Η ταινία αφηγείται την αληθινή ιστορία ενός μικροαπατεώνα του Μπέλφαστ, που κατηγορήθηκε και φυλακίστηκε άδικα για μια βομβιστική επίθεση του IRA. Το 1974, ο νεαρός Ιρλανδός Τζέρι συλλαμβάνεται άδικα από τη βρετανική αστυνομία και αντιμετωπίζει την κατηγορία βομβιστικής επίθεσης. Υπό καθεστώς απάνθρωπης ανάκρισης και έντονης ψυχολογικής βίας, ο Τζέρι θα αποδεχθεί την κατηγορία, ενώ ο πατέρας του θα φυλακιστεί ως συνεργός.
