Vuonna 1193 eKr. maailman kaunein kuolevainen, Troijan prinssi Paris, on juuri ryöstänyt Spartan kauniin Helenan kuningas Menelaosilta. Menelaos kerää kokoon parhaat soturinsa, joihin kuuluu myös miltei kuolematon sankari Akilles, ja johdattaa satatuhatpäisen armeijansa kostoretkelle ylipäällikkö Agamemnonin avulla. Troijan kuningas Priamos valmistautuu sotaan nimeämällä poikansa Hektorin ylipäälliköksi. Verinen sota alkaa.
