大学生ステファニーは、何度も繰り返される暴力的な悪夢に苛まれていた。夢に現れるのは、自分や家族が次々と悲惨な死を遂げる未来――。その悪夢が“ただの夢”ではないと気づいた彼女は、唯一手がかりとなりうる人物を探して故郷へと向かう。たどり着いたのは、50年以上も語られてこなかった「死の連鎖」の原点。そこには“運命には逆らえない”という、不条理な法則が今なお脈々と生き続けていた。「なぜ生き残ったのか」「死は、順番を守る」 過去と現在が交錯する中、ステファニーはその血の因果と対峙する――。
