Vastbesloten zijn leven te beteren, verruilt Kamal België voor Syrië om oorlogsslachtoffers te helpen. Bij aankomst wordt hij echter in het leger gedwongen en hij strandt in Raqqa. Intussen valt zijn jongere broer Nassim thuis ten prooi aan radicalisten. Hun moeder Leila wil koste wat het kost voorkomen dat Nassim in de voetsporen van Kamal treedt.
